CONNECT
Substance abusing women who are either pregnant or have young children are at extremely high risk for many types of problems affecting not only themselves but also future generations. Unless steps are taken to intervene in the affected woman's life, her children and subsequent generations will experience the effects of her substance use problem.
The CONNECT Program at The Addiction Institute of New York offers substance abuse treatment to pregnant women and mothers of young children. The program is designed to meet the multiple personal and family needs of mothers and mothers-to-be in recovery.
Primary Goals of Treatment
• Become free of all drugs and alcohol
• Develop a clean and sober support network
• Develop constructive coping skills to prevent relapse
• Achieve economic self-sufficiency
• Upgrade academic skills
• Obtain marketable skills for employment
• Achieve family stabilization and reunification from foster care
