Brief Treatment
The Addiction Institute of New York Brief Treatment Program is a structured,
short-term treatment service designed for people who are mandated to treatment
by the judicial system or some other institution, as well as clients who
seek to establish and maintain abstinence. The core program involves attendance
twice a week for a period of 12 weeks. Treatment consists of group counseling,
psychoeducational group counseling, and individual counseling. Services
are conducted both in English and in Spanish. Groups meet during evening
hours.
Aftercare and relapse prevention groups are available upon completion of
the core program for those patients who require or wish longer course of
treatment. Attendance at self-help recovery groups, random urine drug screening
and breathalyzer testing are also required elements of the treatment program.
Patients involved in the Brief Treatment Program are also eligible to receive
other supportive services such as parenting skills, assertiveness training,
